Who do the guidelines for responsible consumption apply to?

These guidelines have been designed for average healthy adults.

They do not apply to:

•   Young people under 18, who have not reached physical maturity
•   People under conditions that may be affected by alcohol, such as pregnant women
•   Those suffering from high blood pressure or
•   Those taking medications that do not combine well with alcohol
•   Those with a history of addiction or mental illness

Young people can't cope with alcohol physically or emotionally as well as adults.

For that reason, there are no safe limits for this age group and there are laws restricting the purchase and consumption of alcohol by young people under 18
